Preschoolers of all ages can join us for a storytime. The Youth Services department provides age-appropriate interactive fun with stories, music, sign language, and more. Each program runs for six weeks. Spring storytimes begin the week of June 19 and end the week of July 28.

Family Storytime (All ages)

Fridays, 10:30 - 11:00 a.m.
Registration is not required.

Preschool Storytime (Ages 3-5)

Tuesdays, 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. and Mondays 1:15 - 2:00 p.m.
Registration is required.

Romper Rhymes (3 - 15 months)

Thursdays 9:45 - 10:30 a.m.
Registration is required.

Budding Readers (16 - 23 months)

Thursdays 11:00 - 11:30 a.m
Registration is required.

Time for 2's (24 - 36 months)

Wednesdays, 10:00 - 10:30 a.m.
Registration is required.

1000 Books before Kindergarten

This is an ongoing program.
Registration is required.

Be on the lookout for our new exciting program 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. This new reading program encourages all Bloomingdale families and caregivers with young children before they enter Kindergarten. Studies have shown that families that start reading aloud to their children from birth strengthen language and vocabulary skills. Ask at the Youth Services’ Desk for more information. Storybook Trail – Move! By Steve Jenkins

Back for Spring! Take a walk or ride your bike along the Storybook Trail at Circle Park and enjoy the outdoors while reading. This family-friendly trail is co-sponsored by the Bloomingdale Public Library and the Bloomingdale Park District.
Circle Park is located at 163 Fairfield Way, Bloomingdale, IL

Registration for May programs is on-going. June program registration begins Tuesday, May 30. July program registration begins Monday, June 19.

Bloomingdale Chess Club(Drop-in, Grades 3 and up)

Wednesdays, June 7- August 2
Registration is not required.

Participants will have the opportunity to play many games over the course of the summer and time will be given for questions and instruction. Kids aged 8 to 18 are welcome.

Design A Salad Gardening Program (Grades 2-6)

Mondays, June 12- July 31 4:00-4:30 p.m.
Registration is required.

We’re growing a garden and you can help! Our first session will have a special presenter and each meeting will focus on a different activity or stage of our garden’s growth. Please noter there will be no class June 26.

Captain Cranky and His Crew (Drop-in, All Ages)

Thursday, June 22 2:00-2:45 p.m.
Registration is not required.

Sail the seven seas with Captain Cranky and his crazy crew of incredibly entertaining Pirates. Presented by Dave Herzog’s Marionettes.

Mandala Mania (Grade 3-5)

Tuesday, June 27 2:00-2:45 p.m.
Registration is required.

Mandalas may relax and soothe. Try your hand at creating this unique art form. We’ll have some ideas to kick-start your imagination. You’ll then choose a mandala to bring home for more color experimentation.

Games of Families (All Ages)

Wednesday, June 28 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Registration is required.

Brace yourself—crests are coming. With ancient heraldry, color symbolism, a dash of Latin mottoes and lots of family pride—come design your own painted shield to represent “House______”. No dragons will be provided at this event.

Make It Take It-4th of July (Drop-in, All Ages)

Saturday, July 1 OR Monday July 3 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Kids are invited to stop in to make 4th of July craft perfect for the holiday.

Come challenge yourself and learn new techniques with the monthly theme, or stretch your imagination with free building.

Thursday, July 6
11:00-11:45 a.m.

Registration is not required.

Join us the first Thursday of the month for a themed storytime at Stratford Square Mall (meet by the Harley Davidson store) and receive a treat for being a good listener! All ages welcome; caregivers must remain with their children. Please note there will be no August storytime due to the Ice Cream Social.

Craft Time (All Ages, Drop-in)

Registration is not required.

Stop by the Youth Services department anytime between 1:00-8:00 p.m. to make a fun craft. We'll supply all the materials needed. Please note the May Craft Time is 3:00-8:00 p.m.

Construction Creativity (Drop-in, Grades K-2)

Friday, July 7 1:00-2:00 p.m.
Registration is not required.

Explore construction in a whole new way as we create our own construction person and paint with building blocks.

Storytime, Milk and Cookies at Panera (All Ages, Drop-in)

Mondays, July 10 and August 14 9:30-10:15 a.m.
Registration is not required.

Location: Panera Bread, 370 W. Army Trail Road. Enjoy a special themed storytime with fingerplays and nibble on some yummy cookies and milk from Panera!

Beautiful Baubles (Grades 3-6)

Monday, July 10 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Registration is required.

Design and create gorgeous jewelry with homemade beads, and learn new techniques to create fabulous crafts to share with friends (or keep for yourself!).

Beyond Blocks (Drop-in, All Ages)

Tuesdays, July 11, 18, and 25 3:00-6:00 p.m.
Registration is not required.

Build and construct with different building materials every week. Come to the Youth Services desk and design something new with unusual household items.

Hand-Print Animal Art (Drop-in, Grades 2-6)

Tuesday, July 11 1:00-2:00 p.m.
Registration is not required.

Stop by anytime between 1:00-2:00 p.m. to have some fun painting with fingers, palms, and hands. No two handprints are alike! Caregivers are welcome to attend.

To Infinity and Beyond: Interactive Toy Story (All Ages)

Wednesday, July 12 2:30-4:00 p.m.
Registration is required.

Reach for the Sky! What happens to your toys when you leave the room!? Join us for a fun interactive version of the Disney classic Toy Story. We will provide the props and the fun, you just bring you!

Amazing Astronauts!

How do astronauts work in space? What do they eat and how do they sleep? Come investigate how these scientists help to build a better future for the planet we live on and beyond!

Traveling World of Reptiles (Drop-in, All Ages)

Registration is not required.

Dave Dinaso will bring to the library an up-close live “hands on” experience about reptiles and amphibians from around the world. This program is as educational as it is fun!

Summer’s not over yet! Drop in and watch the newest DVD release here at the library. Get comfortable, have some popcorn and enjoy the matinee. Children 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Movie titles to be announced in July.
