Preschoolers of all ages can join us for a storytime. The Youth Services department provides age-appropriate interactive fun with stories, music, sign language, and more. Each program runs for six weeks. Fall storytimes begin the week of September 11 and end the week of October 27. There will be no storytimes the first two weeks of October due to new carpeting.

Registration for Bloomingdale Library cardholders begins on Monday, August 7.

Family Storytime (All ages)

Fridays, 10:30 - 11:00 a.m.
Registration is not required.

Preschool Storytime (Ages 3-5)

Tuesdays, 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. and Mondays 1:15 - 2:00 p.m.
Registration is required.

Romper Rhymes (3 - 15 months)

Thursdays 9:45 - 10:30 a.m.
Registration is required.

Budding Readers (16 - 23 months)

Thursdays 11:00 - 11:30 a.m
Registration is required.

Time for 2's (24 - 36 months)

Wednesdays, 10:00 - 10:30 a.m.
Registration is required.

1000 Books before Kindergarten

This is an ongoing program.
Registration is required.

Be on the lookout for our new exciting program 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. This new reading program encourages all Bloomingdale families and caregivers with young children before they enter Kindergarten. Studies have shown that families that start reading aloud to their children from birth strengthen language and vocabulary skills. Ask at the Youth Services’ Desk for more information. Or you can sign up right here.

Storybook Trail – Move! By Steve Jenkins

Take a walk or ride your bike along the Storybook Trail at Circle Park and enjoy the outdoors while reading. This family-friendly trail is co-sponsored by the Bloomingdale Public Library and the Bloomingdale Park District.
Circle Park is located at 163 Fairfield Way, Bloomingdale, IL

Potty Party (Ages 1-4, with a caregiver)

Tuesday, August 22
10:30-11:00 p.m.

Registration is required.

No more diapers, it’s time to use the potty! Toddlers of all stages of potty training are invited to a party with stories and songs to encourage and motivate potty training.

Doodle Bugs (Ages 2-3 with caregiver)

Monday, August 28 11-11:30 a.m.
Registration is required.

This is a special art class just for toddlers and parents. Little fingers will experiment with painting, gluing, sticking and creating, while developing fine motor skills.

Play to Learn with DuPage Children’s Museum (Ages up to 6 years and families)

Thursday, August 31 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Registration is required.

Join this play and learn setting as the Dupage Children’s Muesum brings their interactive portable exhibits to BPL. Children and caregivers enjoy the muesum’s portable exhibits and learn hands-on STEM projects that can be done at home. In addition, community support will be provided.

LEARN with LEGOs for Preschoolers (Ages 3-5)

Storytime with a Surprise at Stratford Square Mall (All Ages, Drop-in)

Registration is not required.

Join us the first Thursday of the month for a themed storytime at Stratford Square Mall (meet by the Harley Davidson store) and receive a treat for being a good listener! All ages welcome; caregivers must remain with their children. Please note there will be no August storytime due to the Ice Cream Social.

Craft Time (All Ages, Drop-in)

1:00-8:00 p.m.

Registration is not required.

Stop by the Youth Services department anytime between 3:00-8:00 p.m. to make a fun craft. We'll supply all the materials needed. There will be no Craft Time on August 3 due to the ice cream social.

Storytime, Milk and Cookies at Panera (All Ages, Drop-in)

Mondays, September 11 and October 9 9:30-10:15 a.m.
Registration is not required.

Location: Panera Bread, 370 W. Army Trail Road. Enjoy a special themed storytime with music and nibble on some yummy cookies and milk from Panera!

Lego Madness (Grades K-6, Drop-in)

Monday,September 11 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Registration is not required.

Come challenge yourself and learn new techniques with the monthly theme, or stretch your imagination with free building.

Focus on FUNdamentals (grades K-1)

Mondays, September 11- October 16 4:00-4:45 p.m.
Registration is required.

Join us for a fun twist on essential skills. We will focus on everyday skills that will prove essential to a successful school year- listening, following directions, and more. There will be no class on October 2 and 9.

Rock Out on Collect Rocks Day (Grades K-2)

Thursday, September 14 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Registration is required.

Rock out with the rocks and minerals on Collect Rocks Day. We will learn a little about the different kinds of rocks as we perform science experiments. After our lesson, everyone will make their own rock collection and try to identify the rocks they collect. There will be plenty of hands on specimans.

Early Learning Kickstart (Ages 3-5)

Wednesdays, September 20
1:00 – 1:30 p.m.

Registration is required.

This program is designed to build an academic foundation and foster curiosity and a love of learning. Children will begin to connect words, learn letter sounds and work with pencil skills to prepare for writing numbers and letters. This program is presented by Bloomingdale Kumon Center.

Kitchen Kids (Grades 3-5)

Wednesday, September 20 4:15 -5:00 p.m.
Registration is required.

Come practice kitchen skills and make easy, kid-friendly snacks and treats! Food is prepared and served, so please notify Youth Services if your child has dietary restrictions.

Mind Math (Grades 1-3)

Tuesday, September 26
4:15 - 5:00 p.m.

Registration is required.

The program uses the abacus as a tool to train kids to do calculations mentally without the use of calculators or paper and pen. This program is hosted by ALOHA Math of Bloomingdale.
