Preschoolers of all ages can join us for a storytime. The Youth Services department provides age-appropriate interactive fun with stories, music, sign language, and more. Each program runs for 6 weeks.

Happy Books, Happy Cooks (Ages 3-5)

Mondays, 7:00-7:30 p.m.
Registration is required.

Preschool Storytime (Ages 3-5)

Tuesdays, 10:30-11:15 a.m. and 1:30-2:15 p.m.
Registration is required.

Time for 2's (24 - 36 months)

Wednesdays, 10:00-10:30 a.m.
Registration is required.

Romper Rhymes (3 - 15 months)

Thursdays 9:45-10:30 a.m.
Registration is required.

Budding Readers (16 - 23 months)

Thursdays 11:00-11:30 a.m
Registration is required.

Family Storytime (All ages, Drop-In)

Fridays, 10:30-11:00 a.m.

1000 Books before Kindergarten

This is an ongoing program.
Registration is required.

Be on the lookout for our new exciting program 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. This new reading program encourages all Bloomingdale families and caregivers with young children before they enter Kindergarten. Studies have shown that families that start reading aloud to their children from birth strengthen language and vocabulary skills. Ask at the Youth Services’ Desk for more information. Or you can sign up right here.

Money Smart Week for Kids (Grades K-2)

Monday, April 23
4:15 – 5:00 p.m.

Registration is required.

The Bloomingdale Bank and Trust will teach children to be Money Smart. Participants will receive a gift to take home.

Potty Party (Ages 1-5 with caregiver)

Tuesday, April 24

Registration is required.

No more diapers, it’s time to use the potty! Toddlers of all stages of potty training are invited to a party with stories and songs to encourage and motivate potty training.

Butterflies at BPL! (All Ages, Drop-In)

Friday, April 27 - May 17

Have you ever seen a caterpillar change into a butterfly? Starting today butterflies of all stages will be available for viewing before their release on May 17.

Doodlebugs (2-3 years old with caregiver)

Monday, April 30
11:00-11:30 a.m.

Registration is required.

This is a special art class just for toddlers and parents. Little fingers will experiment with painting, gluing, sticking and creating, while developing fine motor skills.

I Can’t Believe I Made Butter! (Grades 3-5)

Wednesday, May 2

Registration is required.

Come make your very own butter while learning about cows and dairy farmers from the DuPage County Farm Bureau. YUM!

Storytime with a Surprise at Stratford Square Mall (All Ages, Drop-In)

11:00-11:45 a.m.

Registration is not required.

Join us for a themed storytime the first Thursday of every month at Stratford Square Mall (meet in the Lower Level Café Court near the center of the mall) and receive a treat for being a good listener! All ages welcome; caregivers must remain with their children.

Craft Time (All Ages, Drop-In)

Registration is not required.

Stop by the Youth Services department anytime between 3:00-8:00 p.m. to make a fun craft. We'll supply all the materials needed. January craft time will be extended from 1:00-8:00p.m.

Lego Madness (Grades K-6, Drop-In)

Registration is not required.

Come challenge yourself and learn new techniques with the monthly theme, or stretch your imagination with free building.

I’m a Big Brother or Sister (Ages 1-5 with caregiver)

Calling all big brothers and sisters, congratulations on your promotion! Join us for some stories and songs about the new arrival in your home.

Mother’s Day Gifts for Mom! (Grades K-6, Drop-In)

Drop in to make a great crafty gift for that special someone…Mom! Just in time for Mother’s Day.

Introduction to Little Bits (Grades 3-6)

The library just received an exciting collection of Little Bits! These toys make STEAM building and inventing electronic gadgets fun and easy. Join us as we start out talking about the basics and start building our first gadget. Provided through a generous donation from the Friends of the Library.

Storytime, Milk and Cookies at Panera (All Ages, Drop-In)

Location: Panera Bread, 370 W. Army Trail Road. Enjoy a special themed storytime with music and nibble on some yummy cookies and milk from Panera!

Fly Away Butterflies! (All Ages, Drop-In)

Have you ever seen a caterpillar change into a butterfly? Today we watch the butterflies fly away! Join us for this exciting event – we will have butterfly crafts to take home too!

Time for Toys (Ages 3 months-5 years with a caregiver, Drop-In)

Registration is not required.

Time for Toys (formally Tuesdays with Toys) is an informal program giving parents with small children the opportunity to meet and talk with other parents, while children play with toys and games. Toys and games are most appropriate for children ages 3 months to 5 years.

LEARN with LEGOs for Preschoolers (Ages 3-5)

Build with LEGOs and build your child’s school readiness too! Come to the library for stories, learning and fun. Each program has a different theme and learning objective like numbers, colors, or letters.
