Storytimes

Preschoolers of all ages can join us for a storytime. The Youth Services department provides age-appropriate interactive fun with stories, music, sign language, and more. Each storytime runs for six weeks. Fall Storytimes begin the week of September 9 and end on October 18. There is no storytime on Friday, October 4.

Fall Storytime registration for Bloomingdale residents begins Monday, July 22 and for non-residents one week before each program begins.




Happy Books, Happy Cooks (Ages 3-5) *R*

Mondays, September 9 - October 14
7:00 - 7:30 p.m.

Registration is required.


Preschool Storytime (Ages 3-5, Drop-In Limited)

Tuesdays, September 10 - October 15
10:30 - 11:15 a.m.

Registration is not required. Limited to the first 20 children to arrive.


Toddler Storytime (2-3 years with caregiver, Drop-In Limited)

Wednesdays, September 11 - October 16
10:30 - 11:00 a.m.

Registration is not required. Limited to the first 20 children to arrive.


Baby Tales (0-24 months with caregiver, Drop-In)

Thursdays, September 12 - October 17

Registration for August and September programs is open to Bloomingdale Library cardholders. Non-residents may register one week before each program begins.


1000 Books before Kindergarten

This is an ongoing program.
Registration is required.

Be on the lookout for our new exciting program 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. This new reading program encourages all Bloomingdale families and caregivers with young children before they enter Kindergarten. Studies have shown that families that start reading aloud to their children from birth strengthen language and vocabulary skills. Ask at the Youth Services’ Desk for more information. Or you can sign up right here.


Circle Park Storytime (Drop-In, All Ages)

Registration is not required.

Join us for outdoor summer storytimes in Circle Park. Meet us at the picnic shelter! Weather pending.


Sensory Time *R* (Ages 3-8 with caregiver)

Saturdays, August 10 and September 14
10:00- 10:45 a.m.

Registration is required.

A time at the library for special needs children filled with stories, songs, games, sensory stations and more. Please email us at bdys@mybpl.org if your child has special needs and interests that we would need to know in order to serve them better.


Storytime, Milk, and Cookies at Panera (Drop-In, All Ages)

Monday, August 12 and September 9
9:30–10:15 a.m.

Registration is not required.

Enjoy a special storytime and nibble on some yummy cookies and milk from Panera!

Storytime at McDonald’s (Drop-In, All Ages)

Circus Clown Day *R* Grade K-6

Thursday, August 15
4:15-5:00 p.m.

Registration is required.

Come clown around at the library! You can dress up, and paint your face then play games have fun as you test your clowning skills.


Lunch Box Pals *R* Ages 4-6

Friday, August 16
12:00 – 1:00 p.m.

Registration is required.

Enjoy lunch time at the library. Pack a lunch and enjoy the lunch hour with friends, we’ll enjoy crafts, games and stories.


LEARN with LEGOs for Preschoolers *R* Ages 3-5

Tuesday, August 20
11:00-11:45 a.m.

Registration is required.

Build with LEGOs and build your child’s school readiness too! Come to the library for stories, learning and fun. Each month we will have a different theme and learning objective like numbers, colors, or letters.


Back-To-Homeschool Open House (Drop-In, All Ages)

Come grab a snack, meet other families, and learn what the Library can do to support and supplement your homeschool experience!

This is a special art class just for toddlers and parents. Little fingers will experiment with painting, gluing, sticking and creating, while developing fine motor skills.


Pajama Storytime (Drop-In) Families

Registration is not required.

Come dressed in your pajamas for a storytime to get you all ready for bed!


Elephants are Awesome!*R* Gr K-2

4:15-5:00 p.m.

Registration is required.

Elephants are the largest land animal and one of the smartest. Come to our special program to learn more about these awesome animals through stories, videos, games and crafts.


Playing with STEM (Drop-In) Ages 3-5

Tuesday, September 3

Registration is not required.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) are important learning areas for kids of all ages. Start your child early with our fun play to learn program. Each week we will have different stations for kids to explore.


Craft Time (Drop-In)All Ages

3:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Registration is not required.

Stop by the Youth Services department anytime between 3:00-8:00 p.m. to make a fun craft. We’ll supply all the materials needed. Please note there will be no Craft Time on August 1 due to the Ice Cream Social.


Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead *R* (Grades K – 2)

Mondays, September 9 and September 23
4:15-5:00 p.m.

Registration is required.

Each month we will incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math concepts through engaging experiments, activities and projects. Please register for each class.


Craft Room Clean Out (Drop-In, All Ages)

Wednesday, September 11
4:00- 6:00 p.m.

Registration is not required.

Drop in to create a craft of your liking. Plenty of materials to choose from!


Build a Project with Little Bits *R* Grade 3-6

Thursday, September 12
4:15 – 5:00 p.m.

Registration is required.

The library just received an exciting collection of Little Bits! These toys make building and inventing electronic gadgets for kids fun and easy. Join us as we talk about the basics and build a project. Provided through a generous donation from the Friends of the Library.


Community Helper Storytime: Public Works (Drop-In) Age 1-5 with caregivers
