Preschoolers of all ages can join us for a storytime. The Youth Services department provides age-appropriate interactive fun with stories, music, sign language, and more. Each storytime runs for six weeks.

Spring Stortyimes will begin the week of March 4th and end on April 19th.
There will not be storytimes for the week March 25-29.

Happy Books, Happy Cooks (Ages 3-5) *R*

Mondays, March 4 - April 15

February and March program registration for Bloomingdale Library cardholders will begin Monday, January 28.
Non-residents may register 1 week before the program.

1000 Books before Kindergarten

This is an ongoing program.
Registration is required.

Be on the lookout for our new exciting program 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. This new reading program encourages all Bloomingdale families and caregivers with young children before they enter Kindergarten. Studies have shown that families that start reading aloud to their children from birth strengthen language and vocabulary skills. Ask at the Youth Services’ Desk for more information. Or you can sign up right here.

Each month we will cover a STEAM subject while incorporating fundamental skills of reading, writing, computation, coding and problem solving. Please register for each class.

Potty Party (Ages 1-5 with caregiver)

No more diapers, it’s time to use the potty! Toddlers of all stages of potty training are invited to a party with stories and songs to encourage and motivate potty training.

Build a Project with Little Bits (Grades 3-5)*R*

The library just received an exciting collection of Little Bits! These toys make building and inventing electronic gadgets for kids fun and easy. Join us as we talk about the basics and start building a gadget. Provided through a generous donation from the Friends of the Library.

Wonderful Wacky Juggler Andy Head (All Ages, Drop-In)

Do you love to make some noise? Each week we will make a fun musical instrument and then have some fun wiggling and giggling to our favorite songs.

Northern Illinois Lego Train Club Display (All Ages, Drop-In)

The Northern Illinois LEGO® Train Club will exhibit a one-of-a-kind LEGO® train display here at BPL, free to the public this weekend! LEGO lovers of all ages will be amazed as custom LEGO® trains whizz past cities and towns all made out of LEGO® bricks! There will be plenty of pop culture references, scenes out of your favorite movies, and thousands of LEGO Minifigures creating all sorts of havoc throughout the display. Be sure to look for the little vignettes – some hidden - that guarantee big laughs from all. If you have a LEGO enthusiast in your family, this family friendly program is one that you don’t want to miss! See you there!

This is a special art class just for toddlers and parents. Little fingers will experiment with painting, gluing, sticking and creating, while developing fine motor skills.

Scrub-A-Dub SCIENCE *R*(Grades 3-6)

Make bubbly play-dough, jiggly jelly soap, and more, just like you see in fancy shops in the mall!

Storytime with a Surprise at Stratford Square Mall (Drop-In, All Ages)

Registration is not required.

Join us at Stratford Square Mall (meet in the Lower Level Café Court near the center of the mall) and receive a treat for being a good listener! All ages welcome; caregivers must remain with their children. December will be a special storytime with Santa!

Craft Time (All Ages, Drop-In)

Registration is not required.

Stop by the Youth Services department the first Thursday of every month to make a fun craft. We’ll supply all the materials needed.

Sensory Time *R* (Ages 3-8 with caregiver)

Registration is required.

A time at the library for special needs children filled with stories, songs, games, sensory stations and more. Please email us at if your child has special needs and interests that we would need to know in order to serve them better. This will be a new monthly program.

Storytime, Milk, and Cookies at Panera (All Ages, Drop-In)

Do you like building forts? Come to our ultimate fort building party. Bring a blanket and your imagination, build a cool fort with friends, then cozy up with a snack and your favorite books.

Sponge Painting Soiree (Drop-In, All Ages)

Roll back your sleeves, and dip and dab to create your own sponge paint scene. We’ll provide the sponges and paint, you bring the creativity! Dress for mess.
