New Materials Area:
Create a new material marketing area - we will create a new shelving area with face-out shelving and professional level signage to promote all our newest and most in-demand materials. This will be located where the copiers and the long counter currently are.
Teen Area:
Renovate and modernize the teen area adding teen themed seating/tables, and large flat screen display for use with gaming systems and tablets.
New Circulation and Reference desks:
Create space that will be ready for the new RFID system that will include a sorter and workstations where patrons will be able to check out a large stack of books in just seconds. The Reference Desk will be redesigned to allow staff to co-work with patrons more easily, and make it more convenient to provide help with digital devices and eBooks. The actual RFID tags/sorters/security system would be installed in fiscal year 2015/16

Goals of the renovations:

To increase circulation of our materials by highlighting the newest and most in-demand materials in a prominent spot near the front of the library. Increase convenience for patrons as these materials will now be located very close to Circulation Desk/self-check machines
Get the Circulation Desk ready for implementing RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). This will increase the convenience and level of service to our patrons. This will also reduce the confusion about which line patrons need to get in when waiting for help. Dramatically speed up the time for checking out materials
Become more relevant and welcoming to young adults and teens with a space that has the latest technology and comfortable surroundings
