Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Scholarship (Application and Instructions)

Wheaton – The DuPage County Department of Community Services is offering college and occupational training scholarships for low-income individuals with high academic potential.
The Community Services Block Grant scholarship supplements the cost of tuition, books, supplies and other school-related items for a semester or a quarter to offset the student’s needs. This scholarship is funded and designed in cooperation with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
Applicants are required to provide proof of DuPage County residency, gross household income for the past 90 days and information about members living in the household. Income for the household must be at or below 125 percent of the federal poverty level. Applicants must also include a 500-word original essay or personal statement, official school transcripts, two letters of recommendation, a Financial Aid Audit (financial aid award letter) and proof of enrollment in an Illinois accredited institution.
The scholarship award amounts will vary this year from $500 to $1,500 and special consideration is given to students interested in high-technology fields or other occupations in emerging fields.
Applications are available at the DuPage County Department of Community Services Office, 421 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton, or online at www.dupageco.org/CSBG. Completed applications and support documents must be received by 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017.

Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Application

Providing a bridge from classroom to career by developing tomorrow’s leaders through education, resources and opportunities for the benefit of our community and investing in our greatest asset, our children.
The Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce, along with contributions from several area businesses, will award $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school or college students. Applicants must be planning to continue his/her education on a full-time basis, at an accredited post-secondary college, university, or vocational school in the United States to be eligible. Applicants must fall into one of the following categories:
- A Member or Child of a Member of the Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce
- A Resident of Bloomingdale
- High school graduating senior or continuing post-secondary school student. You must be a full-time student (i.e., minimum of 12 quarter hours or 15 semester hours).
- Academic Merit (must have a 3.0 out of 4.0 GPA to be considered)
Scholarships must be used within the first year of being awarded. The award check will be payable to the student upon verification of enrollment through the school.
A committee from the general membership of the Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce will evaluate applications based on the established criteria. Recommendations from this committee will be tabulated to determine the winners.
Bloomingdale Artists Association (BAA) 2017 Visual Fine Arts Scholarship

The Bloomingdale Artists Association (BAA) is pleased to offer one $1,000 scholarship to a qualified applicant pursuing a Visual Fine Arts Degree. The scholarship is co-funded by the BAA and Masterpiece Framing of Bloomingdale. Residents of DuPage County and the surrounding area are encouraged to apply.
The applicant must be a senior in high school or 18 years or older. The scholarship award will be applied to 2017 college/art school tuition; the award recipient must participate in the 2017 BAA Member Exhibit.*
Applicant must provide:
- Name, address, phone number, email address and birth date.
- Letter of reference from art teacher.
- Recent school transcript.
- One page essay which addresses "What inspires you to create art?"
- Up to three images of the applicant's work. Images shall be printed on, or attached to an 8.5 by 11 inch sheet.

Applications received after the deadline date of April 1st, 2017 will not be considered.
The $1,000 scholarship is a ONE TIME award; funds will be mailed directly to the school. The award recipient will provide the school name and mailing address.
Details on BAA Member Exhibit:
Exhibit will be held May 13 through June 10 at the Bloomingdale Park District Museum, 108 S. Bloomingdale Road, Bloomingdale, IL 60108. Selected work(s) of award recipient will be included in the exhibit, and he/she is encouraged to attend the Artists Reception on May 21 from 2pm to 4pm.
Joe Draghi Septemberfest Scholarship

The Joe Draghi Septemberfest Scholarship is once again being offered by the Septemberfest Commission. The award is funded through private, community, and corporate contributions. Applicants must be a resident of Bloomingdale between the ages of 17 and 20. Other requirements are noted on the application. The application packet will be available on the Village of Bloomingdale’s website by March 6 and is due April 15, 2017. Winners will be announced at the 44rd annual Septemberfest on September 9, 2017.
Lake Park High School Educational Foundation Scholarships

The Lake Park High School Educational Foundation is pleased to announce 28 scholarships totaling over $19,000 that are available for seniors. Scholarship applications are due to the Career Center at Lake Park West Campus by Thursday, March 9, 2017. (Note: The deadline for the Scott Bradley Memorial Scholarship is Friday, Feb. 24).
