Library Building Open

The library is open our normal business hours:

  • Monday-Thursday: 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
  • Friday-Saturday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Sunday: 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Guidelines

Per CDC/IDPH recommendations for DuPage County, the Library has the following guidelines:

  • As of February 28, 2022, BPL will follow the Governor's guidance and move to masks optional for patrons and staff.
  • If you are not vaccinated, masks are strongly recommended. If you do not have a mask, one is available upon request.
  • Special mask rules may apply for programming; please see the program description or contact the Library for more details.
  • As a reminder, some patrons and staff will choose to continue wearing masks for various reasons. We ask that everyone show grace and understanding to each individual.
  • Capacity limits have been removed.
  • There are no time restrictions for Library or Computer Lab visits.
  • Social distancing is recommended.
  • Hand sanitizers and masks remain available throughout the library.

Library Spaces

  • Tables, chairs, and seating areas are open.
  • The Computer Lab is open with no time or seating limit.
  • Meeting rooms are open, and the Business Office is accepting reservations for eligible groups.

Available Services

At this time, we offer the following services:

  • Check outs and holds
  • Library card registration
  • Reference help and Reader’s Advisory
  • Computer Lab, laptops, and Wi-Fi
  • Copying, scanning, and printing
  • Notary services - Please see page for details, availability, and requirements.
  • Outdoor Wi-Fi on Library grounds from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Programs - Virtual, pop-up, take and make, and in-person

Computer Use

Computers are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Laptops may also be checked out at the Reference Desk and can be used throughout the library. Laptops require a picture ID to use and they must be returned before the library closes each day. Wi-Fi is available throughout the library.

Study Rooms

The library has 2 study rooms available for reservation:

  • 1 Group Study Room (8 people max)
  • 1 Quiet Study Room (2 people max, no talking)

To reserve a study room, visit the Adult Reference Desk or call 630-924-2730. Study room reservations are not available online.

  • Study rooms can be booked up to 2 weeks in advance.
  • Advanced reservations can be booked for 2 hours max per day.
  • If no one else is waiting to use the room, room use can be extended up to 4 hours max per day.
  • Rooms held for 15 minutes for reservations.
  • Open to all patrons in high school and older (not restricted to Bloomingdale cardholders) and free to use​.
  • If there are no advanced registrations, rooms are available on a first come, first served basis.​

Virtual Programs, Pop-Up Programs, Take and Make Programs
The library is expanding our programs for all age groups! You can view the full schedule of virtual library programs on our online calendar. Some programs require registration, which will be noted in the program description.

We’re also offering Take and Make craft kits for kids, teens, and adults. Pick up these kits at the library to make creative crafts at home!

Adult Take and Make Craft Kits
Adults can view upcoming kits on the online calendar. Kits are limited, so email Kristina Giovanni at kgiovanni@mybpl.org or call (630) 924-2735 to reserve your kit.

Teen Take and Make Craft Kits
Teens can view upcoming kits on the online calendar. Kits are limited, so email Katie Yager at kyager@mybpl.org to reserve your kit when registration opens.

Kid's Take It, Make It Craft Kits
Want to create a craft? Each week, staff will design new kid's craft kits for 24/7 pick up at our library craft container along Fairfield Way. Stop by anytime to take a kit to make at home! Youth Services also offers Take It, Make It Kits that require reservations. See upcoming kits on the online calendar. Kits are limited, so contact Youth Services when registration opens to reserve your kit.

Digital Library Services - Download eBooks, Movies, and More From Home
We have thousands of titles you can check out from home, including eBooks, audiobooks, music, movies, and databases. Check out our Home Access flyer for more information, or go directly to our eBooks & Downloads page or Databases page.

Online Card Registration
Online Card Registration - Sign up for a digital library card to access all of our online resources including eBooks, eAudiobooks, online databases, homework help, and more. You must be at least 13 years of age to register.

Returns & Book Drop

All materials can be returned at the outdoor or interior book drops. For oversized or special items, please return them inside.

Get updates from the DuPage County Health Department, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

Ride DuPage COVID-19 Vaccination Transportation Program
The DuPage County Ride DuPage COVID-19 Vaccination Transportation Program provides free rides for county residents to COVID-19 mass vaccination sites, doctor's offices, or pharmacies in DuPage County. No income qualifications or documentation are required to set up rides to vaccination sites. DuPage County residents who need a ride to their COVID-19 vaccination appointment should call 630-407-6500 or 1-800-942-9412 for more information or to set up a ride. Calls must be made at least 24 hours in advance to schedule rides.

COVID-19 Vaccine Information

DuPage County Vaccinations - Visit the DuPage County Health Department webpage for current vaccination options.

Cook County Community Vaccination Program - Cook County Government, Cook County Health and Cook County Department of Public Health are pleased to offer COVID-19 vaccinations to residents of Illinois.

Vaccines.gov - Use Vaccines.gov to find a location near you, then call or visit their website to make an appointment.

State of Illinois Department of Public Health Vaccine Appointment Call Center - If you or someone you know needs assistance scheduling a vaccine appointment, call the toll-free IDPH hotline at 833-621-1284. The call center is open seven days a week from 6 am to midnight. The call center has English and Spanish speaking call agents with the availability for translation into other languages.

Call agents will help individuals who do have access to online services navigate the various registration sites. However, if the individual does not have access to online services or is unable to navigate the site, the agent will make an appointment on their behalf. Individuals will need to provide the agent with their name, address, email (if available), mobile phone number, date of birth, and eligibility. The agent WILL NOT ask for any financial information and the call center WILL NOT share information with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. During heavy calling periods, callers could experience wait times before speaking with a call agent.
