TAX FORM UPDATES: As of January 20, 2026, some tax forms and instructions have arrived at the library (listed below). Please call the Reference Desk at 630-924-2730 for tax form updates.

Deadline: For most taxpayers, the deadline to file their personal federal tax return, pay any tax owed, or request an extension to file is April 15.

Federal Taxes

The library has the following federal tax forms:
- 1040 Instructions

Many people will only need to file Form 1040 and no schedules. If your return is more complicated (for example you claim certain deductions or credits, or owe additional taxes) you will need to complete one or more of the Form 1040 Schedules. See the instructions for more information.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE LIBRARY WILL ONLY HAVE THE FORM 1040 AND INSTRUCTIONS. We will not be receiving any other federal forms.

APPOINTMENT REQUIRED - RESERVE IN-PERSON OR BY PHONE
Dates Available: February 6 - April 10 (Mondays and Fridays)

Available for low and moderate income Bloomingdale Township residents, especially those 50 and older. Assistance is free, but an appointment is mandatory. To schedule an appointment, choose one of the following options:

- In-Person: For Bloomingdale Township Seniors (60 and older), stop by the Township Senior Center to schedule your appointment starting at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, January 23 or Monday, January 26.. During these four days, phone calls will not be permitted for scheduling an appointment. Proof of residency is required.
- Phone: Starting Tuesday, January 27, call (630) 529-7794 to schedule an appointment (if available) for Bloomingdale Township residents. Non-residents can call to schedule appointments (if available) starting Thursday, January 29. All appointments made over the phone will need to pick up tax packet information within two weeks of the call or the appointment will be cancelled.

Free tax preparation services are available on Saturdays (8AM-2PM) and select Wednesdays (6-9PM) by appointment February 14 through April 11. Schedule an in-person appointment at the College of DuPage (Glen Ellyn).
